Town or village train stopover Genoa to Pisa?

We're looking for a town or village with train station along the coast between Genoa and Pisa, to stop over for a night.

Not too overrun with tourists, preferably, or with rich folks who'd drive the hotel prices up.

Anyone know of a place? We were so happy to learn about Sete, France on this board, were hoping for a similar tip.

per favore?
I realize this is the Italian Riviera and all. Any thoughts on Forte dei Marli? My daughters hope for an unspoiled fishing village, but that appears unrealistic.

Thanks, bob, for steering us towards Cinque Terre vicinity. I had avoided tht whole area out of tourism snobbery.

Now have reservation for my daughters. Really appreciate the tip.

Hi, b the n,

My daughters spent two nights at the Hotel Garden in Levanto, and loved it. They spent a day walking the trail and sketching.

Thanks so much for the tip! It worked out perfectly. Their balcony even had a little view of the sea.
