Kells is about 1 hr NW of Dublin along the N3 in County Meath. It is where the Book of Kells was supposedly written. There is an exhibit there about it but the actual book is in Trinity College in Dublin City. This area is famous fo its high crosses, Slane Castle (U2 album cover/concert fame), Trim Castle, Boyne River Valley, Bru Na Boinne Heritage Center, Newgrange ruins and burial grounds, Hill of Tara (where the high kings were crowned) and other sights. There are several bus tours from dublin of the area or it is great place to stay.

Oh Boy, I didn't know that. The one I am refering to is a "Walled City" I think in the area of Cork. Let me know if you have any info. Thanks

I think you're thinking of Kilkenny - a great place to stay and a little medieval gem! Nice restaurants, terrific bars and three great festivals - a folk/ alt-country festival in May, a huge comedy festival in June and an arts festival in August. Check it out at <BR>www.kilkenny.ie

There is a photo of the walled city of Kells and brief description at this internet web site http://www.irelandyes.com/sightseeing.html Evidenly it is in Stonyford county Killkenny.
