Tower of London - Must See?
Is it worth 13.50GBP to go inside?
|
Yes.
|
Yes
|
Most definitely YES.
If you get the chance, strike up a conversation with one of the Yoeman Warders - their family life within the Tower walls is most interesting. .... And of course the history of the Tower of London is quite amazing. |
Go to London and not visit the Tower. Are you serious?
|
I've been to London 2x without feeling a need to visit the Tower. What is so great about it? (Maybe I AM missing something.)
I did, however, visit the Tower Bridge Experience, which I enjoyed very much. |
Yes. Combine it with a visit to the Museum of London. If you're not at all interested in history, however, you may be bored.
|
It is pricey, granted. But, we enjoyed the Beefeaters Tour very much. They are quite witty, and at the same time give a great background of the Tower. Also nice to see the Crown Jewels.
Have fun! |
absolutely.
go, at least once, although I think I've been there 5-6 times now (a bit excessive I think, but I've been on trips with others who have never been and thus accompanied them inside as well). definitely go - an important slice of history in there. plus the Beefeaters' stories are so entertaining! flygirl, having fun with fonts. |
Only if you want to understand anything about England - this is a huge part of their history - from Roman occupation on.
|
Yes, it's a must.
Some people underestimate what it offers -- it's not literally a tower, it has 11 towers technically, it's a huge palace with a lot going on. Check the web site: http://www.hrp.org.uk/webcode/what_t...wer.asp?ID=107 |
I would pay £20 to go. I've been 3x's in 3 trips and next trip I plan to at least go to the gift shop and stand outside admiring it for awhile. There's just something about that place that makes me never want to leave it.
|
If you're going to London you must have some interest in British history and culture, unless you are going to London only for business or shopping.
Assuming you have any interest, YES, and take the tour. It offers a lot of info, especially usefule for those who "don't know much about history." Or, those who do. |
uluvbs- I forgot to add that the Beefeater tour is a must!
|
Absolutely! You'll want to plan on several hours to visit the entire complex, including the crown jewels. And, if the weather is nice, the "wall walk" is fabulous.
If you're also planning to visit Kensington Palace or Hampton Court, you can purchase combo tickets and save a few pounds. |
No, it is worth more than that. |
I thought there was so much history in that place it was great. To see the crowns - some weighing 5 lbs ( i asked the yeomans there ). Great views of the Tower Bridge.
Go see it! |
I'm not one to usually say you "must" see any particular place -- but the Tower is close to a MUST. Something every visitor to the UK should see at least once.
It would be cheap at twice the price (and in many countries it would cost 2 or 3 times more) In fact I recommend most people go at least twice - once during the day, and again for the Ceremony of teh Keys (which is free). |
