Tower Bridge Experience?
 

Is the Tower Bridge Experience worth the time?<BR>If we start at 9:30 AM, can we do the Tower of London, Tower Bridge Experience, and St. Paul's before it closes? Where is a good, moderately priced place to eat in the area?<BR>Thanks.

Anne,<BR><BR>In my opinion Tower Bridge is worth it only if you have a Heritage Pass that gives you free entry. It takes about an hour to go through the bridge - you walk up a level, sit through a 5-10 minute animatronic presentation, walk up a level, sit through another presentation, etc. until you are at the top. Pretty hokey, but there are decent views from the top.<BR><BR>As far as time, yes, you should have no problem doing all three of these in one day.<BR><BR>JPM<BR><BR>visit my travelogue describing these sites at www.appleberryroad.com. Parts are a little hokey but it is still very interesting. It is covered by the Heritage Pass. <BR><BR>One hint - if you are running short of time - once you pay or show your Pass - tell the attendant either that you don't have time for the full show, OR that you've been before, and simply want to get to the top for the views. They will gladly let you jump the queue and take a different lift to the top.<BR><BR>And yes you can easily do all three in one day - just be to St Pauls before 2:30 or 3PM so you will have time to explore before they start closing off areas for evensong.

Anne: If your looking for a place to eat do try St Paul's. They serve a great lunch in their cafe in the basement area.

Anne,<BR>We were very disappointed with the Tower Bridge experience - it is expensive, not very interesting and takes forever. There are so many, many more things in London that are more interesting.

We spent two weeks in London and were very glad that we followed our usual policy of not spending time in places that exsit solely to be tourist attractions. In London, that meant skipping London Dungeon, Tower Bridge Experience, Madame Tussaud's, etc.

We recently had a wonderful lunch at a little restaurant called Davy's Wine Bar and Restaurant. It was one block away from St Paul's, 100 Creed Lane. Tiny little entrance to an underground restaurant. Food was excellent. Don't remember prices.

Just got back from 5 days in London. The Tower of London was great. I wish we had planned at least 3/4 of a day there. It is big with lots to see! Unfortunately, we had only planned a morning so we just did the "audio tour" (which was very good) and left! If you like history - you will enjoy the Tower.

Anne - if you're still in the Tower of London area around lunchtime do go to St Katharine's Dock. It's a wonderful respite to be by boats and water after the crowds of the Tower. There is a nice Pizza restaurant called Pizza on the Dock on the first floor of the Dickens Inn pub which looks like a Swiss chalet or there is a pleasant sandwich and salad bar in the main precinct of the Dock. Alternatively if you really want to Picnic there is a Safeways grocery store at the far end of the Dock area where you can buy all sorts of take out food.

Hello. <BR>My favourite place in London is Camden. Go there!! The markets are v. good.<BR>Probably a matter of taste though.

I'm most likely in the minority, but I liked the Tower Bridge better than the Tower. Great views walking across the top of the bridge & very informative presentation. The Tower was a big disappointment & a definite tourist trap.
