tours to Jewish Quarter and Terezin
 

We are interested in tours of the Jewish Quarter and Terezain. I have read about Sylvia Whittman tour company. Has anyone had any recent experience with her company? Also, we will be with my 15 year old daughter and my 20 year old, who is currently at school in Prague, may join us. Would you recommend private tours or joining an ongoing tour?

You don't need a private or organized tour. You can take the bus to Terezin and tour it yourself with the brochure or get a tour there.

It is a sobering day but certainly well worth it.

I did a DIY tour of the jewish area,you can but a ticket that covers all of the main sites.
I would suggest joing a tour as i felt i did not knoe enough of the jewish religion or history to get what i wanted out of it,but it was stoll a very interesting and sobering day.

I think it is better get some experienced guide for this kind of tour -it could make your tour much more interesting, when you can ask a tour guide for some interesting things.
It is not necesary a book tours before . Guides stays every day on the left side of the astronomical clock before 11am and 2.30pm so you can see them talk to them and choose the best for you .(just at saturday is jewish museum closed ).
Also Terezin tour you can buy in small kiosk(of out of Prague tours) in city center.(there is lot of kiosk you can not miss it)

Definitely take a tour to Terezin. I believe that Whitman Tours is highly rated and recommended.
As for the Jewish Quarter, we did that on our own but i think that a tour would have been beneficial so I also recommend you take a tour there. Google Whitman Tours and you will get some additional information to help you make your decisions.

We toured the Jewish quarter on our own and found it fascinating. I suppose if someone knows nothing of the history or religion it might be useful tohave a guide - but there is much info available on site if you have any background at all.
