Tours of Rome

We are going to Rome in May for 7 days and would like to get an idea of some of the tours and tour companys to use and the cost. Should we go with a group or take a private tour and cost of tours.
I have booked Rome by Twilight. We would like to take a walking tour.
My husband & I are taking the train to Florence for the day and need to know if we need to book the train before we leave for Rome or can we get tickets on the day we want to go to Florence.
This is my first back to Rome in 40 years and my husbands first and this trip means alot to the both of us so any help, information, ideas and name of places to eat are welcomed.

We used www.enjoyrome.com for our family trip in 2007 (7 adults) and were very happy. I think the cost was 35 euros a person per tour and we did a tour of the forum including the coloseum and then a vatican tour.

As for tickets to Florence, you can get them once you are in Rome. Very easy at the train station or travel agents once there.

Should be about 50 Euro or so per person for a small-group tour. A wonderful outfit which I highly recommend.

I also thought Enjoy Rome as good. Small groups. Inexpensive.
