tours of Ireland

I am interested in small group tours of southern Ireland. We hope to go in October, 2013.

Are you asking about a private tour for your group of people? Or are you looking for a small group that a couple can join?

It would also help to know how long you have for the trip and what areas you want to visit.

Small Group tours fall into Vagabond/Driftwood, Woolfhound (Adventure), Paddywagon (18-35 type) or Wild West Ireland. I do not take tours at the moment nor am I likely to in the future, far too independent. Personally unless there is a good reason for not driving yourself I would do just that, or use public transport and small local tours. If a tour is the only way To Go then Wild West Ireland would be the one for me.

We are 4 adults who did not like the itineries of the popular tour companies (CIE, Globus, etc). We wanted something more flexible, with a private driver(so I could enjoy myself too and not stress). We booked a tour through Tenon Tours who then tailored a trip to our needs, preferences, and schedules. I thought they were reasonably priced. They arranged for our hotel stays, private driver, airport transfers, and the driver was invaluable for giving us suggestions on extra places to see and places to eat.

I really appreciate the responses. We are two couples who prefer being part of a small group rather than a bus full. We are active seniors and don't want to do the driving ourselves. I will look into all the tours mentioned.

Thank you very much for the information
