tours in paris
 

My husband and i are doing a 5 night trip to paris. First time. Staying right in the heart in the st. germaine area so i am sure we will do lots of walking and sight seeing on our own. However we would be interested in doing one or two guided tours if they are done well. We did a couple in rome and they filled in so much history and detail they were wonderful. Any suggestions of companies to go with?

I second Paris Walks. I've taken about a dozen of their walks and thought they were great.

There is a free Notre Dame tour given by volunteers Wednesdays and Thursdays at 2:30; Saturdays at 2:00. I've done this tour twice and loved the history of ND plus the history of Gothic churches in general. Half of the tour is of the facade and a general history; the second half is inside the church, including the choir which is closed off to the general public.

On the coach side, have a look at Cityrama and Parivision. They are the two biggies.
