Tours in Normandy
Does anyone have a recommendation for tours of D-Day sites? Also, a tour that also visits other significant parts of Normandy, not necessarily related to D-Day and WWII.
Thanks in advance... |
Pick up a driver at the train station. He'll take you anywhere you want to go for a flat rate.
(Try to wind up at Port-en-Bessins around lunchtime. Best seafood on the planet.) |
http://www.battlebus.fr/ Best 75 euros I ever spent. Went last summer with them on the all day American sites tour. They also have tours that specialize in British or Canadian sites. They have several variations to choose from. All guides are British and they are experts. Larry J |
We are staying at a B&B in May called La Lande in Bricquebec, recommended by our friends who stayed their last year. The husband of the couple who owns the B&B (Ted) gives WWII/D-Day/Normandy tours which our friends RAVED about. He will take you wherever you want to go and is apparently a wealth of information and a fantastic story-teller.
Here is some info on La Lande and has the contact info: http://www.specialplacestostay.com/s...FileID=FBB2056 |

We are going to be in Normandy in 2 weeks. Does one need to make a reservation for the tours or can we do a walk up on day of. Thx

I second Robespierre'a Port-en-Bessins suggestion, the place is gorgeous.

I agree with LarryJ on Battlebus tours. I also did the full-day American highlights tour (last year) and it was great.

Thanks everyone for all your feedback. I will look into these.
