Tours from US to Turke
My husband and I are planning a trip to Turkey next year and think we want to go with a tour. However, we are looking for tour groups that give you flexibility. While we are interested in seeing some historical sights, we want to experience the culture and people too. We have also discussed a tour that includes travel on a Turkish Gulet. I am interested in anyone's experience with tours in Turkey ...

We went with Grand Circle and with Globus to Turkey and were completely satisfied in all respects with both companies. Email us direct with specific questions, and we hope that we can be of help. You will love Turkey -- we certainly have, and we have traveled there from east to west, from north to south.

Al, what are the basic differences between Globus and Grand Circle? We are trying to determine whether to do independent tour or tour package. Thanks for the info.

Do a search for OAT tours (Overseas Adventure Tours). There were a number of posts about them here recently. Their Turkish tour is a small group, includes the gulet, and even includes an overnight home stay and trips to some local hospitals or something. They are geared for a varied age group but fairly active, hikes, etc.

the best way to travel would be having your individual itinearry so that you will get the real taste of the country. Group tours will not give you anything. Check out this page www.lodgingturkey.com and look for the geart info on Turkey. We can even assist you designing your own itinerary with competitive prices. You wont regret if you make an inquiry with us. References are available from US-Citizen Clients upon request.

We went to Turkey several years ago with a Rick Steves tour www.richsteves.com and just loved it. Stayed in small hotels, small group (21) great guide. Check out the site for more information.

Please consider visiting my site at www.footloosetravel.com. I am planning a tour to Turkey along with my partner MeliTours of Rick Steves fame. If anything, take a look at the tour pages. The photos are quite nice and the itinerary may give you some ideas on where to go. Sincerely, Mike
