Hmmm, I never understand the negative idea of being a tourist- when I am travelling, I am there to see and do things that are unique to that place. I don't see the value of avoiding the sights simply because they are "tourist sights". Sure, I go to experience the local scene too, but it wouldn't be the same without some sightseeing. Of course, I also go to musuems and festivals and such at home, too.

... and still perhaps there are still a few who believe there's no life on internet, or relationships founded via keyboard and heart. And here we have the passing of a classic noted from a posting the year before last. Not forgot. The memory of the departed live on, now even by notations on a viewing screen. May God bless and keep Wes, and bring joy to his family and friends.

... now, what about that tacky question on what to wear in London! Lets get back into it ...

We've been taking our daughter on these trips since she was 8. The very first trip, I instructed her, "If anyone ever calls you a tourist, make sure you let them know...you're a traveler!" She has remembered it every time.

Now that she's had a few of these trips under her belt, I guess it's time to promote her to Voyager. Or even Sojourner.

/The Go Family Scotland trip is T minus 15 days and counting...

I am a relative newbie to Fodors but came across this post when it was recently topped with a note that Wes had passed on. How sad, but also how touching that a piece of him can live on in Fodors. Also an interesting post.

A tourist is someone who's been there once. A traveler is someone who ha been there before? A tourist is interested in places. A traveler is inerested in people?
