tourist class on AVE?

5 of us, including 2 teenagers, want to take a day trip from Madrid to Sevilla via the AVE train -- my question is, what is tourist class like on this train? If we travel tourist we can cut our train fare in half!

Tourist class in the AVE is quite comfortable, it's just like the difference from coach vs. business in a plane. I would take tourist class for the 2.5 hours ride and spend the extra money having dinner in a nice sevilian restaurant. Business class isn't worth it, especially when you have to pay 5 tickets.

Lori,
Ditto! I've traveled on the AVE several times, always in tourist class. As Carmen says, it's fine.

Thanks to both of you -- now that's settled, I'll be looking forward to my dinner in Seville. Any suggestions?

Lori,
Our native sevillanos, Pedro and Olga, posted a number of great recs for formal dining and tapas on another thread not too, too long ago. Here are a few of theirs and mine:
For a romantic, lovely dinner, elegant service in a pretty solarium-type dining room, head straight to Egana-Oriza, near the Hotel Alfonso XIII, for its Basque-inspired cuisine. Other favorites are Taberna del Alabarero, Casa Robles, Enrique Becerra.
