Tourism Centre-booking help?
Forgive me if this is a redundant post (I don't see my previous attempt).
Does the Dublin Tourism Centre offer a hotel booking service for "walk ups" as is done in other cities in Europe? Could we show up mid-week in early March and go to the Tourism Centre and have them find us a room, instead of pre-booking? Thanks!

Yes they do - but the only four cities I ALWAYS pre-book accomodations are London, Paris, Edinburgh and Dublin.

Do not leave it to chance - there could be a convention or big event that books things up even in March.

For other parts of Ireland, getting rooms as you go along works just fine - but make reservations for Dublin.

If you are in Dublin on a weekend you will have a VERY difficult time finding an affordable room when you arrive. Book 3-4 months in advance.

All the tourst centres can cover booking for you or you can do it yourself on line atwww.gulliver.ie That's the system they use at all the tourist offices.

The only places I saw that did hotel bookings for "walk-ups" used the www.townandcountry.ie Website and charged their fee per night and per room to do it. Just book them at home before you go. A lot of the larger stores (ie Blarney Woolen Mills) have reception areas that will call for you.
