We have relatives in Ireland, so we are adding a little Wales visit before they know we are on the island.

There used to be a North Wales Rover Pass - see if it still exists - good for all trains and buses I believe in North Wales - not sure official name but lets you hop on any train or bus without formality or did when I was there some years ago.
