Touring Vatican City

Sorry to ask another Vatican question, but . . . if you opt to not go through the Vatican Museum, what can you see/visit other than St. Peter's? Gardens or other areas open of the public? I've looked through the archives and can't find any info on what's available outside the museum.

St. Peter's is free. Unfortunately, the museums and gardens are not.
