Touring Dover Castle

What is the minimum time you would allow for touring Dover Castle? Would 2 or 3 hours be sufficient? We'll be short of time but would love to see at least some of the castle as we're passing through. Thanks.

Definitely more than 2hours IMO. . 3 would be about the minimum, but would give you a decent overview. It is very large and if you include the WWII tunnels and a meal you'd need at least 4 hours.

I was there last summer with my kids. It is a huge place, but we spent around 3 or 3.5 hours and were able to walk around the entire castle and battlements, go on the Wartime Tunnel Tour and have lunch at the cafe. We skipped the tour of the hospital. I didn't feel as though we were rushing, but we did a lot of walking. We've been to many castles in England, Wales, and Scotland and Dover was definitely the best because of the size, preservation, and location. And, of course, the history is amazing because it was used as recently as WW2.

Also, if you go, you should do the Wartime Tunnel Tour first because it is time-consuming and you may have to wait in line. It's really well done, so don't miss it!

Thanks all. Will try to allow 4 hours to see as much as possible.
