Hi Mel,
thanks for the link. i had a look but the web-site was remarkably unforthcoming about the hotel. also the rate was about E116 per night with no discounts on venere etc. I appreciate the recommendation though, and if we're we fancy a stop near pointe de raz on the night that we're not booking in advance, I'll try to remember it. [i have a little bundle of possibles for that night, ranging from a hotel near L'aberwrach in the north to, now, audienne in the south.] Regards, ann |
I second the recommendation in Audierne. We stayed at Le Goyen in May and were pleasantly surprised and pleased with value for the money.
I know you wanted cities, but if you can't get the hotels you're looking for, Chateau Guilguffin is about 12k from Quimper and is lovely. However, it is out in the country. |
Hello Ann.
I would mostly agree with Padraig. If you come to the Finistere, you definitively have to visit the center and visit the Monts d'Arree, in the centre. Go up to the St Michel chapel, on top of St Michel de Brasparts Mount. It's definitively worth it and it's on the way from Morlaix to Quimper. Have also a look at Huelgoat and it's enchanted forest. Or the church of Brennilis where you'll find some strange figures of Morgane, originally a Celtic goddess with her fish tail. Or the church of St Herbot, where some of the local farmers still bring a few hair of the tail of their cows or horses, to keep them from illness... I understood you have a bit enough of meadows and cows... :-) but the Monts d'Arree are in the middle of the Natural Park of Armorique. It is one of the most beautiful scenery of Brittany. Some say it looks like some parts of Wales or Scotland. We are ceramist, living in the Monts d'Arree, near Commana. We own a B&B there (www.bnb-brittany.com). I know you've already booked your hotels, but if you would like any more information about this area, just drop by. We'll be happy to help. And as pottery is concerned... well... maybe you can see us at our shop in Quimper "Atelier42", behind the cathedral ;-) Andreas |
