Hi Tom,

I'm American, live in Portugal and a big fan of the touradas! Usually they have fights every Thursday in Lisbon at Campo Pequeno (the main ring) holiday or not. I will check it out for you. Getting tickets usually depends on who the bullfighter is. The more popular ones are more difficult but if you buy early there shouldn't be a prob. I'll get back to you about a fight on June 10th.
Amy

Hi Tom,
I did find out that there will definitely be a bullfight on June 10th- holiday or not! The fights are EVERY Thursday night April through September. Fights begin at 10 pm. at Campo Pequeno Ring. I couldn't find out who the bullfighters were that night but if you want to be sure to get a ticket, buy one the day before or that morning. I really don't think you should have any problems unless it turns out to be a real popular fighter or some kind of spectacular show (it happens sometimes). Good luck and pay attention to the "Forcados" they are the 7-8 guys that line up on foot in front of the bull and go face to face with him until he charges into them! They appear at the end of each fight. The most amazing thing is that these guys do this voluntarily!! The bullfighters are PAID! Have fun!
Amy

Amy,
Fellow American Expat living in Lisbon. Is there a website or newspaper where I can get a schedule of the tourada? Can you buy tickets for the Campo Pequeno tourada at the banks or only at the venue? Lastly, I heard the tourada are on Sundays as well. Is that true?
Rob

This topic is 11 years old. Tom and Amy could be grandparents by now.

Yes, and since that time, Campo Pequeno has been totally renovated with a shopping mall below, cafes and restaurants all around and an amazing venue that has concerts and other spectacles as well as bullfights.

And, since we're now in the digital age, Campo Pequeno of course has its own website (which is excellent) and will show you availability for all events. Purchasing is easy via ticketline, and the Campo Pequeno website links to it when you hit "comprar bilhete" (purchase ticket).

p.s. I am not a fan of bullfights but my husband and son went to one in Lisbon last summer and came away stunned by the brazen-ness and daring (or foolhardiness depending on your perspective) of the men in the ring. They thought it was a different order of magnitude than the Spanish version.
