Tour Of Ireland
 

Planning to take a trip to Ireland and would prefer to go with a Tour Operator (e.g. Tauk, Globus).Tauk looked great but VERY expensive. Any recommendations?
Also, would September be a good month weather wise to go?

Don't know about the tour options, but I have an active thread under Ireland forum where I've asked about late-Sept weather. Feedback I've gotten is that it is a great time to go.

No problem with September. You might get an Irish mist in the morning - bright sunshine for the evening and a wee bit of frost at night. Where else would you get such a veriety of weather in one day?

lanjee, Google the following (without the quotes) and you will find help "ireland find a tour". I always like traveling in September. You must always expect rain in Ireland -- no two ways about it. As the Irish say "There is no bad weather in Ireland, just improperly dressed tourists". If you are prepared for the Irish weather you will have a ball.

I would recommend Rick Steves to you, but not if you want a luxury tour. His tours stay at quaint hotels, not luxury resorts. You also have to carry your own luggage. However, his tours have great guides and are good value for the money.

April and September are two of the drier months, I believe.
The quote I remember is, "In Ireland, there is little weather, but much climate."

Took a 7 day Globus tour last year in Feb - had amazingly good weather which our tour director kept pointing out was unusual) - the hotels and meals (lots of potatoes!) were excellent.

Does it have to be an upmarket tour? Try CIE

We are a fan of Tauck also, on occasion, we are doing a Brendan Tour of Ireland in May. They have some good itinerary choices. CIE and Globus are fine as well. Brendan's site is:
