Thanks, kerouac, for reminding me that the last time I was up there was about 20 years ago! Must go back.

Your photos are spectacular - I'm really impressed by the close-ups and details. It gives a totally different perspective on things I've seen many, many times, both in person and in pictures.

Merci encore.

Lovely photos and I'll be staying one block away...thanks for the previews!

Oh my gosh, those shots are beautiful! Your camera may be a point and shoot, but I'm wondering how long your telephoto lens is to enable such great close-up shots of distant buildings and scenes.

beautiful, thank you! I noticed the discussion of the agricultural fields behind Sacre Couer too. Very interesting! Merci!

Kerouac, you are constantly making me jealous. I've been to Paris a few times, and I still could not get my fill. I don't know if I will ever get to go there again, and your stories make me both happy and melancholy. Keep them coming. GREAT PHOTOS!!

I am so glad to know you use a Lumix. We are looking for a new camera and I always assumed you used a more technical camera. There may be hope for me!

It's wiser to hop on this tower, so that we can take photo of Eiffel tower.

Gorgeous photos! I'm sending the link to my daughter who will be there in about 10 days. She is desperately hoping the weather warms up a little between now and then.

Thank you Kerouac for posting these wonderful photos! Making our first trip to Paris this summer and these add a more realistic view to the various sites we are planning to see adding to the anticipation of the trip.

We went in the evening. Sunset's golden light made the views even better, and then the monuments were illuminated, the Eifel Tower above all. Also, as is well known, the Tour Montparnasse is the only viewpoint in Paris where you don't have to look at the Tour Montparnasse.

Timing parfait! We'll be staying practically in the shadow of this tour next weekend. Thanks as always!

another reason to go back to Paris.

any restaurant recommendations in the area?

scatcat Mar 24th, 2013 04:27 PM

I am really missing Paris right now. Thanks kerouac for the wonderful photos.

kerouac Mar 24th, 2013 11:27 PM

Annhig, there are a lot very reputable restaurants along the boulevard du Montparnasse. Of course since I live in Paris, I rarely go to restaurants, and also I am not at all a foodie, so I do not seek out special places -- a local brasserie is just fine for me, and there are certainly plenty of those in Montparnasse.

For people who like crêpes, the majority of the crêpe restaurants of Paris are in Montparnasse as well.
