Serif Yenen is President of the Turkish Tourist Guide Association and author of a superb guidebook, "Turkish Odyssey". He is an all-around great guy who wants visitors to really get to know his country, warts and all. He does guiding but will surely know of others who can be of assistance to you. We just returned from 2 weeks in Turkey. We used Cappadoccia Tours for our stay there. The owner is Suleyman Cahir who did a wonderful job for us. Arranged all airlines tickets for inside Turkey, set up car, driver and guide for very reasonable amount and arranged stay at Gamarisu Hotel in Ayvali village. but... ...here is a very helpful piece of advice for a novice: please re-post this message with a "header" that actually tells what info you are seeking. Not only are you much more likely to attract help from those who know about Cappadocia and Ephesus - - as it is now, your post is quite inconsiderate. It requires anyone who wants to know what you're asking - - to click on your post just to find out. That's what headers are supposed to do. I don't entirely blame you. Fodors is also remiss in not seeing that new registrants like yourself get introduced to tbe basic info - - available if you click on those tiny little red letters "HELP" in the upper left hand corner. Among other items, you can read there - - at http://www.fodors.com/forums/faqs.cfm#Q6 for example - - (my own emphasis added)... I just returned from a wonderful two weeks tour of Turkey and I cannot recommend our guide enough. We were in Istanbul, Cappadocia, Ephesus, Antalya and along the coastline as well. We were five couples and Lale Kosagan organized everything for us and she imparts a true love for her country and is very knowledgeable as well. Her father taught architecture in Istanbul for over 30 years. Our friend who organized our group is the retired dean of a school of architecture in North Carolina. She and her husband , Kagan, have a website www.tourguidesinturkey.com. I know that they have even gone for the day to guide ship passengers around Ephesus.

This is for WJ1. I have been traveling (naturally) and have only now seen your message. I was with Serif Yenen in October 2004. We traveled Istanbul - Ankara (don't miss the Museum of Anatolian Civilization) - Cappadocia - Antalya (where Serif advised that this is the hometown of Homer and also his so: "Homer is my home boy" - Gallipoli (which I found moving although I am American without the strong connections an ANZAC traveler might have). Serif is congenial, knowledgeable, hospitable (as are all Turks I encountered) and willing to talk of the perhaps darker side of recent Turkish history (the Armenian "genocide" for example). The only thing I can add is that I am returning to Turkey in October 2005 because it is an immensely interesting country which I encourage anyone to visit.

Yes. Argeus is one of the oldest and best travel agencies in Cappadocia area. Highly recommened.
