Tour company

We are thinking about joining a tour company for our Turkey trip. Has anyone used Go Ahead Vacation before? Would you recommend it?

Thanks.

I have been on a Go Ahead Tour and also two of their student oriented trips (EF Tours) They are OK - I think you get pretty good value for your money. Sometimes the food is pretty pitiful but trust you can find some tasty supplements! Hotels are fine, not luxurious but usually pretty well located. They will offer many optionals and shopping opportunities - you may prefer to be on your own instead. Actually I would love to go on their Turkey trip - have been trying to talk a friend of mine into going with me but so far no go. To most of Europe I plan my own trips now but I'm a little hesitant about Turkey and that tour really covers alot of places I would love to see. Please post your experience if yo end up going. SueC1

I did use Go Ahead in Western Europe. We covered a lot of ground which I was pleased about.

Be prepared to spend extra on the many optional day and half-day trips. I think this is how they keep the prices of the basic trips low.

Hotels were just OK, as was the food.

Hi, and elcome to the Europe forum. You will likely make better use of this forum if you put Turkey in the mssage header of a request like this (i.e., repost) - - and/or out it in the "Turkey" category (using the country "subject" box when you re-post.

More considerate to others also, who have to "open" your message to see what it's about, when so many have no experience relevant to your question...

Best wishes,

Rex

Rex,

I believe this post is already in the Turkey subject.

You will soon see the Fodor's format is a little tricky. You may have thought you posted this just in the Turkey subject but ALL posts appear from the various countries in the Europe forum. Many of the board visitors do not go into the individual coutry posts but view the new posts as they pop up in the Europe forum. (Wow, I am finding this hard to explain!) These viewers see "Tour Comapany" posted and do not know the coutry context until they read your post. Thus the comment from Rex.

I stand by my recommendation - - but I see that you are correct, and I somewhow overlooked the fact that it is indeed filed under the Turkey "category".
