Toulouse Day Trips

My husband and our 4 small children will be traveling to Toulouse for 1 week for the New Year. Any suggestions on what we could do with the kids for a few day excurision? We appreciate all information. Thanks!

Then you MUST go to Carcassonne! A completely walled medieval city with ramparts. Your kids will love it and so will you. Believe me, it's a fantastic place and trip back to medieval times.

Two other "must sees" above Toulouse:
The small city of Albi, with its imposing fortress Cathedral, Toulouse Latrec Museum and pretty setting on the river. Nice strolling in the Old Quarter.
The charming, incredibly picturesque bastide town of Cordes-sur-Ciel, above Albi.
Adorable.
Both can be easily done in a day from Toulouse.

Definitely Carcassonne - it will be wonderful this time of year, as you will probably pretty much have the place to yourself.

Just about any one of the main roads leading out of Toulouse will take you somewhere worth visiting - Albi, Auch, Castres, Cahors, Foix...Also, the area just east of Toulouse, south of Albi and north of Carcassonne, is full of marvelous little villages and historical surprises. It's well worth a day to wander around Revel, Graulhet, Puylaurens, and St-Feréol - loads of Cathar castles, vineyards, hidden lakes, etc.

Something we enjoyed immensely was Le Carnaval in Limoux, happens only in January. Go to the Limoux website @ limoux.fr.st/ for more info.
