Toulouse Accom

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has anything to say about either the Le Grand Balcon or Hotel Garone , or the Crowne Plaza In Toulouse, need a two night stay , price isn't really a concern, comfort is.
cheers

I stayed at the Hotel le Grand Balcon in September. My room was small but comfortable. There is a cool theme of early aviation. The lobby is oddly small, just a desk in the corridor in front of the elevators, but there is a nice lounge. The location is very good, just off the Place du Capitole.

I stayed some years ago at the Hotel des Beaux Arts right off of the Pont Neuf.. My room was delightful, with a small balcony overlooking the Garonne and the Hotel Dieu. I remember having ordered up room service breakfast and eating on the balcony in early May overlooking the river. It is only a short walk from the Place du Capitole etc.

Marko:

I think you may want to look into staying at the Hotel des Beaux Arts.. I prefer it to big city hotels. It has just the right measure of plush to make if feel special.

If you get hungry for cassoulet..try this place:

Good luck!

I like the look of that restaurant !!! I intend to have cassoulet at least twice a week....and then gastric banding when I get back ! :)

I wish I had found that restaurant when I was staying around the corner, it looks very appealing.

I've stayed in the Beaux Arts, and the Crowne Plaza; and the other "posh" hotel I've stayed in is the Grand Hotel de L'Opera. Of the two on the Capitole- which is a more central location than the Beaux Arts, I prefer the Crowne Plaza, for rooms and ambience- it's all a matter of taste of course. They're about 3 feet apart so location is not an issue.

The Beaux Arts is not that far away and I like the location overlooking the river. But it's a bit away from the cut and thrust of the Place Capitole. Also, the rooms vary. My pal had a super room on the first floor and I had a tiny garrett. Both had "river views"- in my case if you stood on the wardrobe. But his was lovely.

Sheila:

I was fortunate to get a room with a view at the Beaux Arts. In fact, if you consult HOTELS AND COUNTRY INNS OF CHARACTER AND CHARM IN FRANCE, (2001 edition)on page 291 is a picture of the balcony which overlooks the Garonne and the Hotel Dieu. On my next trip to Toulouse, I will make it a point of requesting the same room again.

Nikki:

The food at Au Gascon is delicious. The restaurant isn't fancy by any means, but it is packed both at lunch and dinner. I remember having at least 3 meals there which were wonderful.
