Torino and then?
 

hello, I have to go to a wedding in Torino at the beginning of October. I would like to pick a place or two where I could spend 6 more nights afterwards.
I've only been to Italy once before when I visited Rome, Tuscany and Venice in 11 days.

I'd like to stay close by and enjoy the surrouding areas but part of me also wants to explore the south.

I know I'm not being very specific, so I could use some of your help to narrow things down.

A few days in Lake Como or another lake, then finsh in Milan?

What are your interests? It might help us to direct you better if we knew if you are interested in . . . museums . . . shopping . . . hiking . . . architecture . . . relaxing by water . . .

In Piedmont, you can visit Lake Orta and Asti.

Do spend time visiting Torino--great museums with a great tourist pass that includes local transportation and wonderful food as well as a plethora of chocolate shops.

From where do you fly home?

Based on your starting point (Torino) I'd also recommend Milan and Genoa since both are close by. If you are interested in spending time in the Alps, visiting places like Sestriere, Sauze D'Oulx, and Bardonecchia coud be fun though each of those places is quite small.

From Turin it is only a short distance to piedmont - http://www.cellartours.com/italy/ita.../piedmont.html , and in October there is the world famous truffle fair in the region with a truffle auction held at the Grinzane Cavour Castle.

Get a car and drive to Villa Sampaguita near Asti for 3 nites and then your last 3 nites at Lake Orta before flying home from Milan. Have fun !

I've always wanted to go to Sicily, would 3 to 4 nights be enough, if so, where should I concentrate my time?

There's a lot to see in Sicily, so 4 nights won't be enough. Of course you will sample a bit of the island, but you'll be able to visit one or two locations tops.

I'd do 4 nights in Siracusa with a day trip to Taormina or Noto or 4 nights in Palermo with a day trip to Agrigento or Cefalù.
