The three or four things I might pick are
1. Crepes
2. Croissants
3. Le Grand Epicerie and cake from the cake shop there. You can buy a piece it and eat it anywhere
4. Cheese
5. Michel Chadon for chocolates
Ok, that's 5.

try Alan Ducasse at Plaza Athenee to rub shoulders with royalty, celebrities, and people who have saved their pennies for a meal of a lifetime.
Maybe go to Jules Verne in the Eiffel Tower. It seems like a touristy options and it is, but it's an excellent restaurant with arguably the world's most romantic location and has been renovated recently. It also a foodie spot.
Or go to Tour d'Argent for culinary excellence.

You didn't mention any budget so I assume anything goes.
In that case my absolute favorite dining experiences were:
1. Taillevant
2. Jacques Cagna
3. La Truffiere
Of course, with the dollar being what it is, I would hesitate to dine at any of these places right now. I am so glad I had the opportunity when times were better.

Hi J,
>go to Tour d'Argent for culinary excellence.
TdA is down to 1*, but still at 3* prices.
My favorite fancy Resto is Taillevent - lunch from 70E pp.
There is a great crepe stand just outside the St. Germaine des Pres metro stop.
The Amorino chain has really great Gelato.
