Top 10 Cities Averaged from your replies

I work with numbers all day long so take my word on the following averages.
The top 10 cities from the list beginning at number one are:
Venice 2.6
Prague 3.29
Amsterdam 3.7
Vienna 3.9
Copenhagen 4.75
Edinburgh 5.4
Munich 5.78
Dublin 6
Madrid 6.13
Brussels 7.25

What about Paris, the number 1 destination in Europe? What about Barcelona? What about Athens, Santorini, Naxos; Istanbul?

Get a life.

EP Aug 27th, 2001 05:07 AM

Hei, Santorini and Naxos are not cities.

'Fraid it's a meaningless exercise. The numbers may not lie, but the results suggest the sample was a bit skewed.

Do not wait for a job offer as my court statistician in the near future. :-)

twenj

Prague 2nd worst, Brussels best ?!

Geez, now I'm wondering if I should still go to London (first time) next week...I've heard it's a great city!

TopTen Aug 27th, 2001 07:25 AM

TopTen,

I'm afraid your statistics exercise did not work. If you look closely at the responses to that thread, posters did not answer it the same way. Some people
rated the cities from 1 to 10, 1 being the worst rating and 10 being the highest rating, while some people ranked the cities from 1 to 10, with a number 1 ranking being the best, and a ranking of 10 being the worst.

How come that Rome, Paris, London, Barcelona haven't even made the cut?
Disregard Nice, Florence, Budapest, Istambul.
How many people on this board visited Copenhagen to bring it to the top 10?

TopTen.Not.A.Statistician Aug 27th, 2001 01:16 PM

Larisa,
This is a follow-up to a question by some poster wanted feedback on ONLy those 10 places. That is why Paris, London, etc., were not on that list.

Lynn Aug 27th, 2001 01:28 PM

How many responses were received - 20? 50? 100? Even if 1000 responded, it represents a very small sample size. Did everyone rank the same cities or did they just list their favorites? It makes a difference.

What a joke that poll is. What is the criteria? Top ten "drinking and pot smoking" cities.

There top three cities in Europe are conspicous by their absenece:
PARIS
ROME
ATHENS
Ed Prifogle
