Here's a good solution, available at Magellans--I discovered these "toothettes" when my mother was in a nursing home and have used them on planes ever since because of the convenience.

I bought 2 packages of OralB BrushUps last night at a DuaneReade in NYC, and noticed that there was also a DR house Brand. I tried one when I got home, and they seemed to work well enough for the duration of flying (but I think I'll supplement it with floss and those listerine melt in your mouth things. Hope my tongue doesn't disintegrate by the time we land!

I've seen OralB brushups just last week in my local grocery store (Giant chain), and it's not a very big super-duper one. I wouldn't have thought these would be that hard to find, it's a standard big-name product. I'd just go to a big grocery store or drugstore. They aren't really like using a toothbrush, though.

amazon.com has some mint flavoured powder that looks good and some others too.

To lyb: I just returned from my local CVS pharmacy where I purchased "Clean and Fresh Teeth Wipes". They are like Oral-B Brush-ups (place them on your finger). They are produced and sold under the CVS. My package contained 12 individually wrapped wipes.I plan to take them in my carry-on when I fly to Heathrow. (Probably won't be able to bring them on board on my return trip.

toothpowder is definitely permitted. The best stuff I found is the Eco-Dent someone else mentioned. It is much cheaper than toothpaste because the bottle actually supplies about 200 brushings and lasts for months. tastes great, fresh breath and you can get it past the airline screeners. where to get it.... health food stores are your best bet. i think amazon carries it. and they have a website that could help www.eco-dent.com in a pinch.

In my part of the country eco-Dent is carried by Whole Foods, small local natural/health food chains, and at one travel/luggage shop.

I used Kontrol Tooth Powder years ago. It was the best tooth powder to use to keep your teeth stain free. My local drug store stopped carried it. Does anyone know where I can still purchase it. I live in the USA.

The main ingredient of the tooth powder is baking soda. Why not just use it? It's only for short time till you can get to a pharmacy.

This topic is dated, now that we're allowed to carry toothpaste on the plane.

true - however since we can only take a small ziplok bag for all liquids and gels, some might prefer to use tooth powder and save some of that precious space for body lotions, cosmetics, hair gels, etc.

Just another option.
