I tossed so many of my travel guide books on our last big cross country move. Those are places I don’t plan to return to so I will be buying more new travel guides for trips to new destinations! Some went to our local library too.
I won a guide book of my choice from Fodors many years ago, a prize for a photo taken in Argentina or Chile that I I had submitted . I finally used the prize guide book on our last trip, to Egypt, which was at the beginning of Covid. Hotels and resources change but the amazing history doesn’t . That is what I used this old Fodor’s Egypt guidebook for, reading about the historical sites.

I am much more likely to keep old guidebooks with memories than books about places I may never get to. If things change and I decide to go somewhere, I can get new guidebooks.

No way I would have tossed the book with the chicken penis place.

I do keep my trip reports and photos by combining them in photo books. I love revisiting my trips by reading through them. Way less bulky than photo albums, although I have plenty of those from olden days.

Is this the place to talk about my trip through France with my friend Ellen in 1972? When we stayed in an odd hotel over the train tracks near the Spanish border that had no toilet paper, she found a new use for the thin pages in the old “Let’s Go”.

Nikki, that's so funny about the toilet paper. Reminds me of my ski trip to Switzerland in college, December of 1970, where the toilet paper was sort of like the paper they use in packages to cushion the products they're sending you. At a party at another hotel, a friend came out of the restroom all excited because he had found good toilet paper! And he had confiscated a roll! 😀
