Too early for Christmas in Paris & Seine River begin November 24?
We are booked on a 7 night Grand Circle "Christmas Time On The Seine River" cruise beginning November 24. The first couple days are in Paris followed by the cruise to Mantes La Jolie, Rouen, Vernon, and back to Paris on December 1. The ship is M/s Bizet expected to dock near Pont de Grenelle.
In 2006 we took a mid December Danube River cruise, and thoroughly enjoyed the evening Christmas Markets during the entire trip. QUESTION: Can we expect to see much in the way of Christmas decorations in Paris and our Seine River stops this early in the Christmas season (Nov. 24-Dec. 1)? We would especially like to enjoy decorations on the Champs Elysees, and evening Christmas Markets. We trust we are not booked too early in the season for a Christmas on the Seine. |
I believe that the illuminations on the Champs Elysées start on November 23rd this year. The department stores of Boulevard Haussmann will also be decorated by then.

I was there early Nov. and the Grands Magasins stores had their windows setup and outdoor decorations up

I know that Galeries Lafayette went first last year, right at the beginning of November, and Printemps followed a week later. Bon Marché is always the last (different neighborhood anyway).

Christmas Market at Le Defense will be open on Dec 1 and there is another which I thought I'd posted. I'll have to look it up again
