Coals to Newcastle? I'm sure your son will love the pasta alla pomodora and all other sauces for that matter. However, do not expect to find the pasta swimming in sauce as it is here in the US.

Ruth,

I certainly hope you're not serious. If you are, in your case I would suggest filling your suitcase with many breakable jars of tomato sauce and then taking them into Italian restaurants with you. When they bring your food you can simply say, "I don't need any sauce, I brought my own."

Ruth, bring your own tomato sauce. You don't want to be stranded in Rome, do you?
Don't forget to also bring pasta, pizza or other American foods. Those Italians don't know how to eat! Somebody please teach them.

I think she might mean what we North Americans call ketchup. I don't recall eating anything in Rome which would require ketchup so I don't know if they serve it there. Perhaps someone else would know?

Are you for real? But if you are for real, just don't go. Your son will miss out on one of the best things about visiting Rome (the whole of Italy actually): eating authentic and delicious food!

Hard to fathom why anyone would take the time to offer even a half-way serious response to this obviously blatant troll question. It would have been much better had it dropped like a lead balloon with zero responses. Don't you think?
