Toll roads in Greece

We'll be traveling to Greece in mid-June and will be driving around a bit ... Athens to Nafplion, Nafplion to Rio, Rio to Delphi and Delphi back to Athens. How are tolls collected in Greece? Electronically or by toll booth attendants? Are the toll roads worth the money or will the normal non-toll highways serve us fairly well?
Appreciate any thoughts.

The Highway Athens - Corinth - Tripolis is the fastest way to reach Nafplio. There are attendants where you can pay toll.
More scenic is the old road ( no toll road) from Athens to Corinth and from Corinth to Nafplio, but will take much longer to get to Nafplio.

On your way you can stop at the Canal of Corinth to admire the view and also visit Epidavros.

From Nafplio to Rio the highway is under construction, i find the old , no toll road much more scenic , as you will drive along the sea, passing through many nice villages.

Even though the highway Corinth - Patras is under construction, you will still have to pay toll ...

From Rio - Delphi - Orchomenos there are no tolls.
From Kastro to Athens there are tolls on the Lamia-Athens highway, which is the fastest way to drive to Athens.

I don't recommend the route via Aliartos-Thiva due to many trucks

If you aren't in a hurry get off the highway just past Corinth and follow signs to Mikines (Mycenae). Well worth the diversion.
Then follow the small roads to Nafplion and you will pass Tiryns... also worth a stop.

There are staffed collection booths on the highways so have coins and small bills handy for the tolls. If you are from the US you will be surprised at the speeds on the toll road from Athens... I cruised along at 120 kph but traffic was blasting past me in the fast lane. Keep right. Use the fast lane only for passing. You will also see overloaded cars and small vans waddling along on the shoulders!

I always mention to people driving in Greece the first time... take care on the 2 lane roads. It is not uncommon to find someone passing at the crest of a hill or on a curve. Keep right
and be alert in these situations. You will also be expected to put 2 wheels onto a paved shoulder to let a faster vehicle past.
