Toledo Escalators?
 

We will arrive in Toledo via train and are wondering where the escalators that take you to the center of town are located. We have been reading forums and doing research about getting from the train station to the town by bus or taxi and did not see anything about escalators until just recently. Now we are thinking that may be the way to go if they are within walking distance from the train station.

"If you come from the train station make sure you turn left at the roundabout between the station and town and walk along the river. After a few minutes walking you will see this old pedestrian bridge which is the best way to come into Toledo and sets the scene for a fabulous day. The bridge is lovely and the view is not bad either. Once over the bridge there are stairs to climb or if you want to avoid the stairs turn right and walk along the road that climbs to the left. After a short distance on the left there is what looks like an entrance to an underground car park - which indeed it is, but it is also the entrance to escalators that take you to the top of the hill."

FYI, I did this in 2015. Much better than walking up. (:

The one I use (1st one built) when parking in the Indigo underground garage on the Paseo de Recaredo, below the Bisagra Gate is called the Remonte Mecánico de Recaredo and is operable Mon-Thurs. from 7 am-11 pm, Friday from 7 am-2 am, Sat from 8 am-2 am and Sun./hol. from 8 am-11 pm.

There's another newer one, Remonte Mecánico de SaFont, near to the San Pablo convent ruins, which is handier for those who arrive on the AVE from the Toledo Renfe station, under a 15-minute walk from the rail station, crossing the bridge.

correction:
The Safont escalator is "handier for those who arrive on the AVANT.."
The train from Atocha to Toledo is an Avant (high speed, shorter distance) rather than an Ave (high speed long distance).

News reports indicate that a section of this escalator is currently broken down (a section going down, not up), and repairs are supposed to be made soon ("soon" being a relative term!).
