To window, or not to window............
 

......that is the dilemma. I was able to secure a single room with bathroom for 50 euro in the neighborhood in Rome I desire (Trastevere) in the hotel I wanted (Hotel Trastevere). The reason the price is so amazing is because.....the room is windowless! Small is not a problem, but no window??<BR><BR>Should I just deal with it since it's such a great price, and in reputedly a lovely, small, charming hotel? Although I do enjoy an occasional gaze in the mornings and evenings before dinner, the majority of the time I will be outside, partaking in all that Rome has to offer.<BR><BR>Any thoughts, comments?

Forget about a view, what if you want to BREATHE? What if there's a fire? I for one could never sleep in such a room, I can't believe it's legal.

I once got a room like that, but it was in the US. It's funny, I suppose I've stayed in hotel or motel rooms and never once opened the draperies, but I was very uncomfortable in that room with no window. I asked to be moved the next morning. I guess it was the psychological problem of not being able to look out if I wanted to. I've never been bothered by closed or confined places, but that room got to me very quickly!<BR>Only you can make the decision, but I know what mine would be!!

Ira, good questions! Here are the answers: 5 or 6 nights, yes to a/c, and no not a smoker.<BR><BR>Patrick, hmmmm, very interesting feedback; you brought up an interesting scenario. Then again, a room I once had in Paris overlooked a non-descript alley, so I just left the curtains closed. Yet, I knew I did not want to return there. I wonder how claustrophobic I'd feel. Then again there's the fact that I most likely won't be there that much. And there's the great price. And great location....aaaarrrrgggghhhhh. The vita's not feeling so dolce anymore!!

Why don't you try the room without the window and if you have a problem with it, ask if you can move to another room. I do wonder about the safety of such a room if there is a fire.

I just had a terrible panic attack reading this post and thinking about a room for almost a week without a window. I wouldn't be able to do it. It would be like sleeping in a closet! The room must have a window even if it doesn't open! Dolcevita, rethink this. How much more would you have to pay for a teeny, tiny window? Pay the extra money and get a room with a window.

How much time do y'all spend looking out a window in your rooms? It always amazes me the ones who want a room with a view of the eiffel tower. WHY? You can step outside and see it.<BR><BR>Now if I am in the country, I love to sleep with the curtains open and awake to a vista that might not be seen otherwise, except in a passing car.<BR><BR>But safety wise ..I'll take a window.

aaa, you are very nasty. Enjoy your windowless bedroom, pitch dark and no fresh air to breathe. Sounds just right for a creature like you. Now close the door - the warden is coming.

They're booked now, except for one room, which is twice the price at 98 (out of my budget), which will most likely be filled by the end of April.<BR><BR>I'm quite sure I won't have a panic attack! I would not even consider staying in a windowless room, but if it doesn't bother you I guees you should go ahead and book it, someone must stay in that room sometimes. I just worry about those old hotels and not being able to exit a window in case of a fire or some emergency. Also, don't you like fresh air to breathe all night?

Forget about nasty aaa who's already at Bellevue.
