To "Hoping To Travel"
To :"Hoping To Travel"--- Please don't think those of us in our "80's" have to be relegated to bus tours. At that stage it's still not difficult to do a lot of independent travel, and even the "big cities" are very manageable if you don't panic. Just be prepared to 1) ask for directions very politely, with dictionary in hand, and 2) learn, in advance,to recognize the basic words for directions (e.g left, right, straight ahead, etc, etc,) . The correct words, plus a nice smile, will get you through almost anywhere, (Well---maybe not the round-abouts in England.)

Sorry, I guess I just picked an age out of the air! My parents (at 80) took an around the world trip including a flight over Mt. Everest. I only hope I can do so well. Go for it!

Probbay not very important - - but what is this about, exactly? A previous thread?
I can't relate it to any previous posts by "hopingtotravel". Best wishes, Rex |
You're right, rex, "probbay" not very important. But you still felt compelled to comment. Just feeling cantankerous?
|
Hi Rex. It related to a statement in one of my posts where I (probably not very clearly) meant that I was bypassing some of the bigger cities while on a driving trip. I felt that when we're older and it's too stressful for my husband to drive, that those larger cities would be where a tour bus would go. I didn't mean to offend anyone. Yes, my 89-year-old father still puts several thousand miles a year on his car.

Thanks, "htt"... I found it now... http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34580613
I was curious because the "customary practice" would be to recommend to "bevandbill" to put this remark THERE - - not start another separate thread (like this one) where no one understands the context. Now, if we could only guess the context of someone having to comment on someone having to comment... |
I have an uncontrollable urge to comment on the person who felt it was necessary to comment on Rex's commenting on the comment made. . . never mind, now I have a terrible headache.
