To Edinburgh, UK by trian from London.
We're arriving at St. Pancras Int'l at 13:30 pm, would like to take a train to Edinburgh. Which station will be close to us to take the train and also some suggestions with accommodation in Edinburgh, Scotland .

Trains for Edinburgh depart from Kings Cross which is next door to St. Pancras. For the best rates purchase advance tickets. Trains are frequent leaving about every 30 minutes. When are you going? What is your budget for accommodations in Edinburgh?

I will be arriving at St. Pancras Int'l on Aug 24th, 2014. Still, tkts are not on sale. Budget for accommodations $150 -$200/night. We're a family of four , 2 adults with kids of 5 and 15. Thanks !

The train aspect is pretty straight forward. You will probably want Waverley Station, but this will depend on where you stay. If near the west end, Haymarket may be closer. I can't really help with recommendations for places to stay. August is very busy with all the festivals, and it may well be too late to find availability in Edinburgh centre. You budget is also on the low end for four people as $200 amounts to less than £130. You might try Premier Inns but guessing for August dates you'll have to go further out.

BTW. Ticket prices tend to be most expensive when they first become available and just prior to journey. A quick look and I found a 14:00 departure which should be plenty of time if arriving at St. Pancras at 13:30. This particular train takes a little less than 4 1/2 hours. The next train departs at about 14:30. The lowest price I saw for the journey was £64.50.

$150 is a bit less than £90. That is quite low for a quad room and VERY low for two rooms. $200 about £120 which is a bit more doable.
How many nights will you be in Edinburgh. You'll get better value for money renting a flat.
If you just want clean and don't need fancy amenities/charm, there are several Travelodges in the central part of Edinburgh which should be below your budget.

Yes, Travelodge would likely fit your budget. I believe the Travelodge Waterloo Place is the most convenient, near Waverley Station and centrally located. I'd check on it ASAP as Edinburgh gets very busy during August. A flat might be even less expensive and more convenient for a family as janisj said if you can find one. Sorry I'm no help in that regard.

Given it's the last weekend of the Festival Fringe I trust you've already booked your accommodation in Edinburgh.
But why are you going to London if you want to be in Edinburgh - from both Brussels and Paris you can fly direct to Edinburgh.
Your plan is like going to Boston in order to reach Washington DC.

OMG - I didn't notice the August bit!!!!!
You may have a very hard time finding a place at all, let alone one w/i your budget. You are arriving on the last weekend of the Fringe and over during the Bank Holiday.
Try for a travelodge ASAP (ANY travelodge in the city) - and if you are very lucky you'll find something.
Prices double in Edinburgh in August and the city more than doubles in population over August weekends. What is the rest of your itinerary like? If you were planning on spending time in another part(s) of Scotland after Edinburgh, it might make more sense to stay elsewhere first and then return to Edinburgh after the festival crowds have left.

Just noticed that you've been asking similar questions - not sure what was missing from the earlier answers?
Also, in August, hotels will be scarce. A quick look at Booking.com and I did find the Holiday Inn Express Royal Mile still has some rooms, but at around $250/260 per night.

A reason to give as much info as possible in your OPs. In none of the three threads did you mention August until your second post on this thread. I also see from one of your other threads that you only have the two days and aren't going elsewhere in Scotland.
The devil is in the details. You will be arriving on probably the single MOST crowded day of the year in Edinburgh (except perhaps for Hogmanay/New Years Eve)
What is your entire itinerary? Maybe you need to drop the idea of Edinburgh this trip.
(you've started 15+ threads in the last 3 weeks and I can understand maybe losing track of some of the info/suggestions - you may be getting overwhelmed w/ the responses. Fewer/more detailed questions might get you more useful suggestions)

Book the London-Edinburgh train at www.eastcoast.co.uk as they are the operator, and give an extra 10% off their own fares.
You want seats on the right hand side going north, for all the coastal scenery north of Newcastle and the best views as the train curves onto the Royal Border Bridge near Berwick (if you get reserved seats and they are on the 'wrong' side, just sit in any unreserved empty seats of which there will be hundreds)
Fares start at just £21 each way in standard class, from £49 each way in 1st, IF you pre-book. If you only see £117+ Off-Peak and Anytime fares, no £21, £35, £45 Advance fares, then booking isn't fully open yet, WAIT.

I booked my accommodation at Premier Inn, on the waterfront (no idea about the location). It is on the Northern part of the city.As was planning to book my tkts from London on the August 24, still not available as this date's tkts are not selling now. In a few days they will start posting tkts from that day. By the way, how this
Family & Friends Rail card works while buying these long distance tkts ? I put this blindly on booking, it almost came out 50% off the original price.

The Premier Inn Edinburgh Leith Waterfront is in Newhaven about 2.5 miles NE of the city centre, near the Royal Yacht Britannia.
The Family & Friends Railcard costs £30 per year, must be bought in advance and there are specific conditions (such as, at last one adult and one child (5-15 y.o.) from the cardholder family must travel together).
