To drive or not to drive?

Ok, my husband and I are formulating our trip to France for June 2014. We so appreciate your helpful advice in planning our trip!!
Because of your great advice, We will stay 4 nights in Paris, and then we will rent a car in Paris and drive to the Dordogne for 5 nights. We are wondering, is the traffic worse going out of Paris on Saturdays than on Fridays? We want to leave either Friday, June 13, or Saturday, June 14. Which day would have less traffic for driving from Paris to La-Roqu-Gageac in the Dordogne?
Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Traffic will be lighter on Saturday morning than on Friday.

Why not consider traveling by train to the Dordogne and renting a car on arrival?

Take the train to Perigeuex and rent a car. Otherwise you are looking at a boring drive of over six hours.

Don't rent a car in Paris and drive to the Dordogne - long, boring drive with the sun in your face the whole way. Take the train to Brive-la-Gaillarde and rent the car there. You COULD take the train to Périgueux, but that's a fairly agonizing trip involving taking the TGV to Bordeaux or Libourne, then getting a local train to Périgueux, then renting a car (no automatics, in all likelihood, if that makes any difference to you), then a 45-minute drive to Sarlat area.

StCirq as usual is correct. That's a direct train.
