To Christine locaflat help please
You replied before about rue Geoffrey st Hilaire and hope you may help again. I can change to apartments at 167 bvd St Germain, Rue Dauphine or rue de Sevres. Which would you recommend as best location. They are all small and basic but cheap.
Alternatively a really spiffy loft at Rue Champ de Mars I love but wonder if better to be closer to latin quarter. Thanks again. |
If you are referring to the loft on Rue Champ de Mars that is on vrbo we stayed there and loved it. It was well equipped and had a SMALL patio. It's not far from metro and busses and there are loads of restaurants in the neighborhood. We love the neighborhood. If you are a jogger you can go right to the Champs de Mars every morning.

hi, well, anyone could really weigh in on this question as it isn't specific to Locaflat, but just location. I know others stay in the St-Germain area and can vote on which they'd think best.
My personal opinion is that any of those locations look excellent, and there might be some slight variations depending on their exact addresses on those streets, and perhaps things we can't know (like being next to a noisy bar or something). 167 bd St Germain is about a Daum crystal store about at the corner of rue du Dragon; it's a nice traditional 6-7 store older French apt. building and only one block to the St-Germain metro stop. It's only a block or so to a Monoprix store where you can buy what you need for the household. Rue de Sevres is very long and it could be anywhere along that street, some parts maybe a little more convenient than others, but that is a very elegant area and I like it very much, also. If it were near Bon Marche dept. store and their gourmet grocery store, I would love that for shopping. Rue Dauphine is in prime St-Germain, a short walk to the Seine and Pont Neuf. You may know all these things from a map. I really don't know, they are all good locations and I'd probably choose based on the apartment and prices. I don't think it would necessarily be better to be near the Latin Qtr -- but some people would. Others would much prefer to be near the rue Cler market, and rue Champ de Mars is right off that. You know, I just looked at Locaflat and I would have chosen the bd St Germain apt perhaps, but it is on the first floor and given how busy that street is, I'd be afraid of noise. I forget when you are going, I think it's summer, isn't it? If so, you'll want to have the windows open. I couldn't find any loft on their website or any apt on rue Champ de Mars, but if you really love that, I think that would be a good idea. I don't know if I'd want to be right near rue Cler as there is a noisy cafe or bar there (the Sancerrois maybe, I didn't stay right on that street so don't know), but if it were down the street a little, that would be preferable for me. It could be the place Laidback stayed, a lot of owners advertise in multiple places. I forget if you had kids or not -- if so, I think it would be nice to be near the Champ de Mars park. The apt. on Sevres is between Vaneau and Duroc, I guess. It is basic, I would rather stay in the loft if you love it. |
The loft we stayed in was between Bosquet and Bourdannais. Not at all noisy with a GREAT view from the bed of the Eiffel Tower.

Many many thanks. I appreciate your help. Hope to book loft but have not heard yet. Otherwise will try the others. We have teens.
