To all who are interesed: Paris-Hotel des Marronniers on rue Jacob, 6th
 

I've been trying to know what this hotel looks like on the inside but there was never a website I found...until tonight. So if you are like me and are curious to know what the rooms and hotel look like this is their website address:

You have to give them credit for honesty. On the picture pages they say about their rooms, "They are quite small but look out onto either the garden or courtyard, so you're guaranteed a good night's sleep." Otherwise it looks beautiful and of course well-located.

WillTravel, you are right, at least they're honest. I saw the comments on tripadvisor.com and mostly the complaint is about the small rooms. And one about the pigeons:)

they couldn't possibly overstate how small their rooms are (at least the one double I stayed in one night one time) but, at least years ago, the decor and location were absolutely charming. There was cranky front desk staff at the time (all shifts) but that was years ago.

I don't understand why some really nice hotels have cranky, surly staff. That can really spoil one's stay.

I have stayed here a few times and I really like it. The rooms in the back are so quiet that I was able to sleep with the windows open, the front rooms are on a courtyard a little bit off of the street. We have always had nice people at the front desk. I believe that they are owned by the same people as Deux Continents, which is very similiar. Yes, the rooms are small, but I have stayed in other hotels with just as small rooms, I'm speaking of just a regular standard double, no upgrades, but they had everything we needed and were designed well, for the lack of space. If we hadn't graduated to apartments, I would stay here without reservation. Thanks for the web link, I've recommended this hotel to friends, but it will be better now to have pictures and a way to contact them without calling.

We always walk by this hotel, since ours is just up the street on rue Jacob. This one is lovely and charming, that courtyard is great! We went to the desk once to get a brochure and rate sheet, the people we talked to were very nice.
It is just around the corner from rue de Buci-all those food shops at your doorstep~
If you are only planning to sleep in the room and be out all the time, I think a small room that charming would be tolerable.

Actually the owner owns the Hotel du Continent and the Welcome Hotel in addition to the Marroniers.

The owner of Deux Continents also owns Hotel de Seine.

You're welcome Scarlett. I, too, always walked past the hotel, never went in. But it looked nice. I was wondering how the inside looked for so long-glad they finally got a website. But their email doesn't seem to be working yet.

The first time I stayed in des Marronniers was in 1989, and it was reasonably priced. However, today I think they ask a lot for those small, but charming rooms.

I stayed one night in the Welcome, and it was not so charming. B/c of its location, it was very noisy, also. This was in 1992, so maybe it has been refurbished?

I was reading a former guest's comment (dated 2002 though) that this hotel frequently overbooks and the staff is rude. This hasn't happened to anyone lately, has it?
I see Susanna found the staff to be nice.

By the way, does anyone know about the hotel's room # 61 which is a triple room? If so, was it comfortable, well-maintained?

this is a popular hotel, and unless management standards have drastically changed I don't think you have to worry about a particular room being well-maintained. I haven't seen the triple and it may be fabulous, but my opinion relative to the size of their double rooms is that there are better values to be had, for the same or less money.

Someone on tripadvisor.com reported that they liked room #61. It seems good. The elevator was broken for one day during their stay so they had to walk up the stairs to the room. Seems like the elevator malfunctions a bit there; theirs is the second report of that happening.
Don't know if it's worth considering. Compared to the other hotels around that area the rates are comparable.

Hmmm, the thread about the carpet damage in the hotel in Paris mentioned room 61....
I wonder...... (although she did say it was a 2*, not a 3*)

If anybody goes there, see if there's an iron mark on the carpet!

I don't know but I doubt it's the same hotel. The Marronniers is a 3*. Room numbers can be the same at different hotels.
