Be sure to see Saint Paul de Vence. Here is a web site that also may be of some help: http://www.provencerivieratours.com/

Yes to St. Paulde Vence, Antibes, Monte Carlo. Also Eze, Gourdon (mountain villages), Biot, Cannes. If you rent a car all are easily visited.

When in St Paul-de-Vence, we stay at thrs Saint Paul. A little pricey, but a nice establishment with a very good restaurant. Lunch on the terrace is especially enjoyable.

I am not sure if Gourdon was supposed to be someone's spelling of Gordes, but I can for sure recommend Gordes. Never heard of Gourdon.
Gourdon is near grass and is what is called village perche. One side of the town sits on the edge of a rocky cliff.
There is a feudal chateau to visit.
(no cars allowed in the village,) but worth the walk for a spectacutar view.

Tourettes, if you are going to Montauroux, since it is just 30 minutes further up into the hills.
Although having a car is probably easier, the traffic in Nice is not much better than Paris. We took the train or bus to both St. Paul de Vence and Eze and had the best time of our travels. Just remember to wear walking shoes and carry a shopping bag! Eze has 2 perfumeries and we bought almost all our souveneirs in St. Paul de Vence.
