Er hope this isn't offensive to mention,,but in Paris there is a s bit of scam where people hand out cards saying they are deaf,, then asking for money,, Realize your friends card will not ask for money,, but she should be careful when she hands out a card that announces she is deaf as she may get some eye rolls and dismissive treatment from wary persons.

Since she will have her daughter with her, she should just use daughter to talk to people and translate info back to her.
