Tips for college students travelling to Prague in June?

My son was thinking of renting an apartment for 10 days to split with 3-4 guys. He was thinking this is going to be a lot less expensive than a hotel. Does anyone have any suggestions how to find an apartment rental or any other inexpensive option for lodging?

Any suggestions of how to book best flights from the East Coast NY/Atlanta or anywhere on the East coast to Prague? Coming home they are going to be returning back to the US from London.

My daughter was in Prague for Spring Break last year and stayed a a hostel that she and her friends really liked. Clean, safe, inexpensive and more hotel-like. It's called Sir Toby's and the link is:
http://www.sirtobys.com/

Since they're not on the Euro, you'll have to find an online money converter to help you with the prices. I'm sure he'll have a great time!

I spoke with my daughter again and want to clarify my first post. She did love this hostel and it was inexpensive but not in the nicest neighborhood and a bit of a train trip to the popular spots for college kids. That being said, she felt pretty safe travelling with her friends and would stay there again.

italy06 - thanks for the information. I have already forwarded the link to my son. I know they need to be in the city for a school related program (theater)and not sure where, so I will relay your upate to him. The website certainly makes the hostel look very nice. He is going to check into it.

I have been in Prague for a few days twice. Both times I rented the same apartment from a very nice man named Miloslav. He was one of several people hawking apartments at the train station.

The apartment I rented was in a very quiet neighborhood near the Florenc bus/metro station. The cost for a three room apartment for two was around $50 a night.

I have his email address if you are interested.

Your son doesn't happen to be attending the Prague Quadrennial does he?? My roommate(and possibly myself) is going to Prague in June and is also looking for inexpensive acc. She's looked at one hostel but it's a little over $400 and she was hoping to find something a little cheaper.

It will depend on the area & what kind of place they rent. There are many hostels in Prague, and some popular ones are in back of the Tyn church (Old Town Area)
