100% is the easiest rule to remember.

It's basically about begging for a living, you know.

And our employers saying "Dear customers, I am too stupid and lazy to do employee performance evaluations or figure out the appropriate compensation for my employees. Will you do it for me, with no thanks whatsoever?"

Hi Larry, actually I should imagine a Euro would be much easier then trying to figure in tips with lira...all those 0000's... It drove us mad.
In Italy always be sure that a service charge has not been included on the check, as often times it is. My husband and I usually leave an additional 5% when the service charge is on the bill... (if the service was good) and the standard 15-20% if it is not included. As of today (I just looked it up) 122 Euros equals $106.00 USD so it shouldn't be terribly hard to figure in gratuity since it's so close to US. Taxi's we tip roughly 10-15% of the fare price,,, not the price for the fare plus luggage.. pretty much follow the same rules you would if you were in any city.
