Tipping again - hotels?

I've searched a bit for tipping in Greece (Santorini, in particular) but this has not yet come up.

So in restaurants tip is usually included, but one might round up the bill (or, if not included, 7-10% is appreciated). I'm good so far. But what about hotels? We are staying at Aspaki--very nice place--and one person carried our heavy bags from the bus station, and another gave us a 1/2-hr-plus orientation and introduction, and is obviously poised to deliver excellent, personal service. We tipped neither, partly because they didn't send out any of the "tip-me" signals we're used to seeing. But should we later, perhaps? And what amounts are appropriate?

I'd greatly appreciate guidance from veterans who've stayed at the posher hotels in Santorini.

And by the way--it's spectacular!!!

These workers live on their tips. It would have been appropriate to give them something at the end of your stay, that's usually how it's handled. In the case of Aspaki, they're instructed not to put out those "signals" so as not to seem overeager, part of the ambience the owner is trying to maintain. The amount to tip would depend on your satisfaction and the services provided. 10-20 Euro to each person would have been appropriate.

Thanks SO much--this is exactly what I needed! Sounds like you thought your advice came too late--but we are still here--I am especially glad to know that end-of-stay is an appropriate time.

I wonder if we met, I was there in Dimitris' office on the 12th.

Not that day, at least--we just arrived yesterday (the 15th). Thanks again!
