tipping
A driver will pick us up at the Barcelona airport and take us to an apartment in Las Ramblas. Tip is not included in the package. What do you suggest we tip him?
Would US currency work or should I use the airport to change money. Maureen W |
No, tipping in dollars would not be a good idea but I think it's a good idea to use an ATM to get euros at the airport.
|
Definitely not dollars, 10 Euro should be about right
|
If you can afford the cost of a private transfer, then a 10 Euro tip should be fine, but I wouldn't offer more than 5 Euros.
|
This is the fourth post I've seen in three weeks from Americans that think it's OK to use US dollars in another (European) country, I really don't understand the thinking behind it.
|
1) how would a NY taxi driver feel if I tip him in Euros?
2) I wouldn´t tip him, he probably doesn´t expect anything. Tipping is not compulsory in Spain and most times is just a question of leaving the spare change. |
Ditto mik,
Unless the driver provides some extra service beyond picking you up and letting you off. In that case 5E is a good tip. ..........................................
