tipping
Any comments on the tipping customs in Spain would be appreciated!

Oh damn. I thought you wrote about tippling.

That I could comment on.

WHile in Spain please refrain from tipping over the bulls - they will not like it at all.

My experience has been that tipping in Spain is less than other European countries, such as France and Germany. Even at moderately priced dinners in a Spanish restaurant (40-50 Euro for two adults), I would watch most people around me leaving small change, or up a couple of Euro. This probably is because Spanish law requires service is added to every tab, so you can be sure it's included--even if the bill doesn't indicate.

If I liked the service, I would give at least ten percent (most expressed a lot of gratitude for this), but I also am a big tipper in the U.S. for good service.

If you click on the "Resources" tab at the top of the page, there is a tipping guide here on Fodors. The one for Spain is at: http://www.fodors.com/features/nfdisplay1.cfm?name=stt/010124_stt_tg_spain

It suggests, as Riffic said, about 10% at restaurants, but also amounts to tip porters, at bars, etc.
