Tip B&B owners??

We are staying at B&B's throughout Ireland, is it customary to tip the owners if they are extra nice (drive us somewhere, help with itineraries, exceptional breakfasts, etc)

Ira:

Would you like to explain to GSteed on the duplicate posting why tipping in a B+B (or a pub) is an act of extreme cultural vandalism, verging on offensive to the proprietors?

Rather than just saying "No", other advice might be recommended.

When this question was asked before, many recommended leaving a nice Thank You note, or even a small gift from your home place (one person here thought of giving state quarters). We left Thank You cards in every BB (because they were all nice and friendly), and even got a few emails when we returned home from those hosts saying "thank you for the nice note, etc etc...".

I think just a simple note is appreciated, but certainly not expected or required.
