i am repeating this post to ask if anyone has actually stayed at this hotel recently?

would like to know your impressions of rooms, and cleanliness.

i have seen tripadvisor.. mixed reviews. but we can get a 50 euro/night rate in march.. so.. tempting.

Well, I'd like to know, too. Walked by this little hotel and it looked cute - on a small park like square. My son ran in and picked up a brochure because he thought it looked like a good place for him when he returns on his own.

spent a week there 5 years ago. Rooms are tiny-almost walk on the bed small. staff was most helpful--my wife was ill and we had the early morning arrival blues. They hurried to get a room ready by 11 so she could rest. three blocks to nearest metro but interesting walk. rate sounds excellent. a point of art history. You are next to the building which was the bateau lavoir laundry which was converted to artist studios with Picasso one of the early residents.

The only reason to stay at this ancient hotel, previously known as the Hotel Paradis, is to get the famous view from the top floor which overlooks all of Paris. The general location is just fine; with shops, restaurants and the metro just steps away. But please insist on a room with a view, otherwise you can do better elsewhere. BTW, everything is at a tilt; the building is slowly falling down the hill...reminds me of our Beacon Hill days. JP

Actually, OP would be next to the building on the <i>former</i> site of the bateau lavoir, as the original building burned down in 1970.

i doubt they will want to give their rooms with a view to the 50 euro customers! but we can try!

might try priceline and use this as backup.

Hopefully, you've searched and read about using Priceline for Paris, as there are only a couple of &quot;good&quot; areas, none with terribly central hotels.

I agree w/ travelnut. Priceline really isn't very good for Paris. Some cities are terrific via PL - like London for instance, but Paris just isn't one of them.

If your main goal is just to get a cheap hotel, Priceline can work, although it's true the areas aren't great. You won't get a 4* hotel for 50 euro in March on Priceline, I bet, but no harm in trying. Actually, someone got the 2* Libertel near Censier metro on Priceline (Latin Qtr area) for around that rate -- I've stayed in that hotel as a regular paying customer, and it would be a good choice for that rate (I paid around 85 euro for the room he got for 60 euro). The area is near rue Mouffetard and very convenient. I don't know what else you might get for a 2* Latin Qtr, though.

if i were to try priceline it would be to upgrade to a four star and hope to get something for $100+.

have not given much looking to the paris zones yet for priceline, as i will probably not do that til a lot closer to the date.
