timhotel montmartre.. 50 euros/night. Decent place?
i have found a few timhotels on sale and was wondering if this one in montmartre is a clean, simple, non-pretentious hotel . i do not need luxury, but for three days, hopefully it is pleasant and clean.
anyone stayed here recently? |
What's the address? They have one in Montmartre on rue Ravignan but it's one of their nicer ones, and I would be surprised it's that cheap as it's fairly popular. It was in some French movie, also, which I forget the name (I think Les Rendezvous de Paris by Rohmer). If so, it's certainly more than just simple rock-bottom, and well worth that price. I think any Timhotel would be worth that, they don't have 1* places that I know of.

After visiting Sacre Couer, we descended through Montmartre to catch the Metro and stopped for a drink at a cafe with a modest view. There was a pleasant little parklet adjacent, and a "Timhotel" sign across the park. I thought the location, at least, was charming.

we stayed at timhotel in Paris near asuterlitz train station last year. the service was good and the hotel was clean. would stay there or at another timhotel.
|
If it's the one on rue Ravignan/Place Emile Goudreau, then it's a rather nice place. That's an excellent price--just make sure it's per room, not per person. When we looked into this hotel, the price was 122 euros per night. What time of year will you be there? Maybe it's a seasonal discount.
|
that is the one.. rue ravignan
50 euros double, plus 5.5 tax and 1 euro/pax/day, also, i think. am lucking out on this one in march, off season. thanks for the comfortng comments!! this will be my brother and sister-in-law's first trip, and the price certainly is great, so.. we will take it and prove that paris doesn't have to be expensive!!!! |
You're getting an absolute steal -- even for the off-season. I wouldn't hesitate in the least!
|
i do see that timhotel has some other ones that are much higher quality.. so hopefully this one at least is keeping up to a reputation.
elle.. were the rooms miniscule? how was the bathroom? is the area inconvenient .. or is transport good from near there? is there a metro very near the hotel? i have only gone up in that area a few times and don't remember details. |
How did you find the sale?
Thanks. |
We didn't stay there. . . my husband had his heart set on Hotel Regyn's Montmartre. But if Regyn's had been booked, the Timhotel was my fallback choice. What an excellent deal for almost any hotel. . . the cheapest I've stayed in was 75 euros (in the Marais), and I suspect the Timhotel is quite a bit nicer. |
There's a metro quite close at Place des Abbesses--one of the few metro stations to have the original Art Nouveau entrances designed by Hector Guimard. It's stunning. Two minor drawbacks--the Abbesses metro station is one of the deepest in Paris. You need to take an elevator down to the tracks. If the elevator isn't working, you have to walk the world's longest staircase. Just think of it as revenge against the croissants. On our most recent trip, the elevator was always working, but on a previous trip, it always seemed to be out-of-order.
The other drawback is that the metro line that serves Abbesses may not serve some of the areas around the sites you want to see. You may have to transfer once or twice to get from Point A to Point B. But there is another option--if you walk from the Timhotel down to rue des Abbesses, turn right, then turn left on rue Lepic (a lively street with many interesting stores and cafes), follow that to the bottom of the hill (Boulevard de Clichy), you'll be at the Blanche metro station , where you can take a train to the big Etoile transfer station. Not that the Abbesses connections are horrible--you can get to many Left Bank stations quite easily--but just thought you should know that you do have another line with different connections just a short walk away. |
I was wondering where you found that sale price, also, along with 111op. It just seems amazing for Timhotel, what's the secret.

i always check bancotel, (www.bancotel.com), and gtahotels.com and quikbook.com.
this was on bancotel. three of the timhotels are 50 euros a night, the others listed are two coupons, ( 100 euros/night). good thing is , you can cancel reservation with no penalty at all through bancotel. p.s. does not include taxes or breakfast. |
