Time remaining on passport to enter Germany
We are departing from US to Barcelona 11/18/07,we change planes in Frankfurt,our US passports expire 03/08/08. we would have approx 10 weeks remaining on our passports . Does anyone know if Germany has requirements for time remaining on passports? I have looked on their consulate website but can;t find info . I am nervous to send for a passport renewal a they are taking 10 to 12 weeks.

I found this info that says your passport has to be valid for 3 months BEYOND your intended stay. So according to your dates, you do not meet that requirement. You should be able to get your passport back in time if you do it on an Expedited basis.

Check out the consulate general for
Germany. Washington d.c. has one and
you may have one in your city. It
should have that info. If there is a
email address, you can get confir-
mation that way.

The traveldocs site quoted above is not reliable on this matter.
The "information" it provides about entry to the UK is identical to what it says about entry to Germany. And what it says about passport requirements for the UK is downright, flat out, 101% wrong.
I've no idea what Germany requires - though if the allegation about 3 months for non-Europeans were correct, it'd be weird for the Germans not to mention it on their North American website, and you'd expect there to be a refernce somewhere on the Web to at least one person being refused admission to Germany.
HOWEVER, the question is academic, since you're not going to see a German immigration officer anywhere on your travels. You go through immigration in Barcelona and nowhere else. You need to check with the SPANISH embassy about passport requirements.

11/18 - 12/18 1 month
12/18 - 01/18 1 month
01/18 - 02/18 1 month
02/18 - 03/08 3/4 month
You have plenty of time on your passport.
In future, I suggest getting a new passport when your old one is within a year of expiration.

Thanks everyone I have sent an email to the German Consulate. We have dual nationality UK & USA & have valid EU
passports, but we have to leave US on the
US passports & did not want the airline
denying us boarding! we can use the U K passports when we get to Europe, Yes Ira your math is correct, go to the top of the class, lol
